He studied a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Queensland and since then has remained passionately committed to using new and improved cardiac techniques and procedures. As such\, he was the first cardiologist in Australia to be trained in Endovascular interventions\, as recognised by the Colleges of Physicians\, Surgeons and Radiologists. He is an international proctor for left atrial appendage closure. A/Prof Ross Sharpe has a special interest in the treatment of structural and congenital heart disease and has expertise in PFO\, LAA and ASD closures having performed over 700 of these procedures. A/Prof Sharpe regularly trains junior cardiologists in new interventional techniques and also partakes in live conference case demonstrations.
