Pathology Interpretation will cover: Use of reference intervals/ranges and clinical decision points; Common pre-analytical errors in General Practice (Chemistry); Critical results – commonly notified critical results to General Practice clinics, how they are relayed and why they are critical; Critical drug results for drugs that require monitoring; Sample collection and test requests in Microbiology and why it matters; From bedside to bench and back to the bedside. A discussion of how samples are processed in the microbiology laboratory and reported back to the requesting clinician; Critical and significant results in Microbiology; what are these? And situations the laboratory will make contact with the clinician.
