DR ZOHEB WILLIAMS

Dr Williams is a Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital. Here he also holds the position of Director of Prevocational Education and Training and is responsible for the professional development of Newcastle’s junior doctors.

Dr Williams grew up in the Northern Rivers, in the regional north of New South Wales. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle in 2012, for which he was awarded a distinction. He then complimented his passion for surgery with a Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection in 2013, at the University of New England in Armidale.

He spent his years as a junior doctor in Newcastle, with secondments across the wider Hunter New England region. After being admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons vascular surgical training pathway, he spent 5 years travelling Australia and New Zealand gaining leading-edge surgical experience in three major Brisbane hospitals (Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandria Hospital and Prince Charles Heart Hospital), Townsville Hospital, Waikato District Hospital (Hamilton, NZ) and the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Over this period Dr Williams developed specialist skills in open surgery and modern minimally invasive techniques. This includes arterial surgery, minimally invasive venous procedures and dialysis access surgery. He is a recognised Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery.

He is a published author and continues research pursuits with the Vascular Surgical Research Group at the John Hunter.
