What you will learn
- Understand current evidence and evolving approaches to hormone replacement therapy and anti-oestrogen treatments in patients with breast cancer, including the impact on treatment decisions and survivorship care
- Apply a practical approach to the ongoing management and monitoring of patients receiving hormone-based therapies for breast cancer, recognising common adverse effects and indications for specialist referral
Speaker
Dr Howard Chan, Staff Specialist Medical Oncology and Director of Physician Training
Dr Howard Chan is a medical oncologist with a strong interest in breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, gynaecological cancers and genitourinary cancers.
He is also the Director of Physician Training at Calvary Mater Hospital. He is currently a member of the Hunter New England Clinical Cancer Research Network (CCRN), RACP Medical Oncology Advance Trainee Committee and Hunter New England Human Research Ethics Committee’s clinical trials subcommittee.
He is currently a principal investigator in clinical trials involving genitourinary cancers, breast cancer and Phase 1b studies. He has previously worked in a corporate research organisation called PSI as a medical monitor.
