Speaker
Dr Andrew Walkom, Paediatrician, The Newcastle Paediatric Clinic
Andrew grew up in Taree and studied at the University of Sydney before moving to Newcastle to complete his paediatric training at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. He spent over 12 months of training in the JHCH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as time with the Paediatric Allergy and Immunology team at JHCH and the Department of Paediatric Cardiology at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
He is also on staff at Newcastle Private Hospital where he participates in on-call service and is part of the team responsible for the care of term and preterm neonates.
Andrew comes armed with a stethoscope, a few magic tricks and enough stickers to entertain the most mischievous of monkeys to the quietest little mouse. Andrew is interested in anything and everything but most importantly, he loves talking to kids and their families about what matters to them.
