Professor Joerg Mattes

Professor Joerg Mattes is a Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. He is Staff Specialist and Head of Department at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital. He is a world-renowned expert in paediatric asthma and respiratory diseases in early life, and an experienced bronchoscopist. He works closely with Paediatric ENT specialists, gastroenterologists, allergists, and anaesthesiologists to manage the most complex lung and breathing conditions in children. His research has contributed to the development of new treatments, including the use of high flow of oxygen in severe bronchiolitis and blocking specific immune factors in severe asthma.
