This webinar explores the important role that practice managers and administrative staff play in recognising and responding to domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) within primary healthcare and community settings. As the first point of contact for many patients and clients, administration staff are often well placed to identify concerns, manage sensitive information, and contribute to a safe, trauma-informed response.

Participants will gain an understanding of how to recognise potential signs of DFSV, respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns, and navigate practical issues such as confidentiality, documentation, referrals, and subpoena requests. The session will promote a whole-of-practice approach to supporting the safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Recognise indicators of disclosed or suspected domestic, family and sexual violence in a healthcare or community setting.
• Respond to disclosures and concerns in a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed manner.
• Understand local referral pathways and available support services for victim-survivors of DFSV.
• Apply practical strategies to manage confidentiality and patient information appropriately.
• Recognise the legal and administrative considerations associated with DFSV, including documentation and subpoena requests.
• Contribute to a whole-of-practice approach that promotes patient safety and supports improved health outcomes.

Participants will leave with practical knowledge and strategies to confidently respond to DFSV-related situations within their role, enhance patient and client safety, and support a coordinated, trauma-informed organisational response.
